Now the application of firebrick is more extensive, but its production process is also very cumbersome, each step in the production needs to be strictly controlled in order to make a good product. So why are firebricks dried during production?
After the refractory brick is made into a brick, it needs to be dried, and the drying process is roughly divided into three stages:
1, equal speed drying stage: at a constant speed to discharge water, body residual water is greatly reduced, water evaporation is limited to the surface of the body. The evaporation rate depends on the temperature, humidity and speed of the drying medium.
2, slow drying stage: with the reduction of the water content of the body, the evaporation rate of water from the surface is higher than the speed of water diffusion to the surface inside the buried body, the evaporation rate depends on the internal structure of the body, the viscosity of the water and the nature of the material.
The purpose of brick drying is to eliminate moisture through drying, so that the brick increases the mechanical strength, to reduce the mechanical loss during transportation and handling, and to make the brick has the necessary strength when the brick is fired after loading the kiln; Withstand a certain stress effect, improve the finished product; And provide favorable conditions for firing,
The benefits of brick drying: brick drying process, accompanied by some physical changes, some surface hardening (such as silicon bricks); Some produce volume shrinkage (such as clay bricks); When drying too fast, if the speed of water removal in each part is inconsistent, cracks may occur. For example, the brick made of plastic clay, during the drying process, accompanied by a certain shrinkage, and shrinkage stress, so that the product deformation, and even cracking. The size of the shrinkage and the shrinkage stress are determined by the difference of the moisture gradient in the product. The greater the moisture gradient difference, the drying speed is too fast, which is easy to cause cracking and deformation. Therefore, when the brick is drying, the drying speed in the drying process does not exceed a certain value, otherwise the product will crack; In the formulation and implementation of a reasonable drying system, the drying speed should be made as fast as possible, and the stress greater than the destructive force should not occur in the brick; It is also important to choose the right drying equipment.
