1. Refractories for converter

At present, the furnace cap, steel outlet, front and rear surfaces, melting pool and bottom of the converter are all made of magnesia carbon bricks. High strength magnesia-carbon bricks are used for trunnion and slag line.

The MgO content in magnesia-carbon bricks is generally 70 ~ 75%, the graphite content is 16 ~ 20%, the bulk density is 2.8 ~ 2.9g/cm3, and the compressive strength is 25~30MPa.

High strength magnesia-carbon brick, the same composition as magnesia-carbon brick, but the compressive strength is 30~42MPa.

2. Refractories for electric furnaces

The bottom, slope and molten pool of the electric furnace are made of magnesia as a whole, or magnesia brick combined with magnesia carbon brick and tar asphalt is used. Hot spot and slag line area, use magnesia carbon brick; Both sides of the furnace door and the steel El are magnesia brick and chrome-magnesia brick; The lid of the electric furnace is high aluminum brick or high aluminum unfired brick.

3. Refractory materials for ultra-high power electric furnace

The lining of the ultra-high power electric furnace is magnesite, the side post of the furnace door is magnesia chrome brick, the slag line is magnesia carbon brick, the furnace wall is magnesia carbon brick, the core and the melting pool are magnesia carbon brick, the steel outlet is magnesia carbon brick, the electric furnace cover is high aluminum brick, and the steel outlet hole is filled with high iron dolomite.

4. Refractory materials for open-hearth furnace

From the working conditions of various steel furnaces, it can be seen that the working environment of refractories is very bad, therefore, no matter what refractories are used, they must have the following properties:

(1) High temperature resistance, with high refractoriness.

(2) Resistance to high temperature molten steel and slag erosion and scouring.

(3) The steelmaking furnace is an intermittent operation, which requires the refractory to have good thermal shock resistance and spalling resistance.

(4) It has high mechanical strength and can withstand the impact of tilting the furnace body and loading the charge without damage.
